Online Networking
There are a few ways you can connect with Cornellians before and after CEN events:
Open Mic
When you sign up to attend an event, you'll have the option of writing a Open Mic that other attendees will see prior to the event. Open Mic give you an opportunity to tell other attendees the types of people you're hoping to meet and the types of opportunities you can offer them. It's the online version of the Open Mic we do at events, where attendees can deliver a 30-second elevator pitch to the entire group.
Here's an example of an Open Mic:
My name is Ezra Cornell and I'm the past President of Cornell University. I'm hoping to meet exceptional entrepreneurs who would like to come to campus and share their stories with our students. Find me at the event or email me at ezra1865@cornell.edu .
See Who's Coming / See Who Came
When you sign up for an event, you'll be automatically included in the See Who's Coming list (unless you check the box that says "do not show my information"). Many attendees sign up for events specifically because they see someone on this list that they really want to connect with.
Post-event you can check the See Who Came list, which is handy if you met someone you wanted to do business with but didn't get a business card. Once you find the name, go to the Cornell Alumni Directory and look up their contact information. If they're not listed, you can email the CEN staff and ask us to connect you.
If you own a business, add it to our new Google Map for alumni owned businesses. Click here for instructions.
LinkedIn Groups
30,000+ Cornellians already have LinkedIn profiles. But without a group, you can only contact alums outside your network through referrals. By joining this group you can contact other alumni in the group without that pesky referral. Your profile will also feature the Cornell logo, which will make it obvious to other alumni that you're a Cornellian. To join, click here: www.linkedin.com/e/gis/958/69DBD44472B3
